I know it's been less than 3 weeks since my last update, but hey! when you want to share something you've just got to share!!  God has given me a blast over the last week.  Last Tuesday night I went to the Manhiem Farm Show to watch my nephew show his steer.  He did a great job!  I also had to run a mile (ok, at least 3/4 of a mile) to my car to close my windows and sun roof before it started raining.  My folks and I had just gotten our farm show food (there is nothing like farm show food ~ especially the french fries) and it started pouring down rain as we sat under the big tent and enjoyed our meal...what a fun time.  Here are pictures of Seth and his steer and his prize winning pig.....

Last Thursday night I got to hook up with Wheaty and her parents and Mandy and Reuben who were visiting.  It was an awesome time of reminiscing about days gone by and catching up on the present.  We sat around freezing and talking in Starbuck's for quite a while, and it was great seeing Mandy again and meeting Reuben and getting to know him.  Friday night and Saturday morning I had a training session for my teaching English class, it was good to get more ideas and to talk with others about their experiences and seeing the neat ways that God has hooked up the right students with the right teachers.  Saturday afternoon there was a picnic for my 3rd grade SS class that I work with every other Sunday. We met at a farm in the heart of Amish country (you could tell because of the traffic trying to get there).  What a fun afternoon with boating/canoeing, hayrides, games and being a kid with the kids.

Then that night, I met up with my niece and her husband, my nephew and his girlfriend, another niece and her boyfriend, and another niece, to go to a corn maze.  What a blast!  We walked a lot!!  And finally made our way out an hour later.  It was my first time to a corn maze and it was great being with those guys ~ I love my family!!

Sunday afternoon and Monday I was at my church's WILD women's retreat.  Let me start with the house we stayed at....

 Seth, SS, retreat 018

I don't know the people who own it, but they go to our church.  The house was beautiful and the outside was gorgeous as we were able to have times alone with God in the beauty of where we were at.  The owner is an avid hunter as you can see from pictures I took in his three trophy rooms...and these aren't even half of it!!!!Seth, SS, retreat 016 Seth, SS, retreat 015

What a wonderful time of fellowship with these ladies, most of which I knew who they were, but didn't really know them.  There are 16 in the group although not everyone could be there, but I was encouraged and humbled by these ladies' sincere love for the Lord and their real lives, shaped by hurts and struggles and joys.  God blessed me BIG TIME when He opened the opportunity for me to be a part of this group.  And I trust I'll be able to put into the group as much as I know I will get out of it.

But this is the reason for writing and what fills my heart as I am compelled to share with whoever reads this post.....in one of our sessions we read through Psalm 104, verse 24 says:

O Lord, how many and varied are Your works!  In wisdom have You made them all; the earth is full of Your riches and Your creatures!

Well, another month has come and gone, and it's been great to see the goodness of God be such a constant.  I'm busier at work and it's been great to have the student's back and see things come back to life.  Homecoming is this weekend and I'm working with a group selling apple slices and caramel, that will be fun.  And tomorrow I'm playing golf with two of my bosses and one of their wife's.  So tonight I went to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls and the moon was huge and orange and full as can be ~ God makes ordinary things so beautiful!!  Our ladies bible study has started up at church again and I'm a small group leader again and this year the Lord is giving me and another girl the opportunity to lead the worship song time before the lesson.  And we're studying prayer throughout the semester, which has been a good area for me to grow and be challenged in.  I'm a small group leader for a table of 3rd grade girls and working again this year with the 3rd grade choir kids.  Those kids are a blast.  And guess what else God has brough my way this year....I'm a WILD woman   which lest you think I've gone off the deep end, it stands for Women In Leadership Development.  I'll be a ministry partner alongside the lady that runs the women's ministry at the church.  There are about 14 WILD women and they will be great to learn from and grow with ~ I am very blessed!!

I enjoyed time with John and Christy Page as they spent the night at my house one night a couple of weeks ago.  I've started teaching English to a fellow who is a refuge from Burma/Thailand, which is an "out of the box" thing for me, but it's been great.  I bought a handmade quilt for $40 that I've hung on my dining room wall - looks great and I'm still amazed at the good price I got it for.  I'm heading up to WOL next weekend, so it will be great to see friends up there and should be a beautiful drive too, which means it will be 6 great hours of singing praises to the Lord in my Highlander!!

Which leads me to one last thing on this post.....the other day I read in my QT "this God is OUR God for ever and ever", that's been a phrase that I've meditated on and found great peace and power in it's truth.  It amazes me that "this God" with all His character and attributes, is my God....but He is! He wants to be! He wants me to want Him to be!  When I think of all that goes into that little phrase...whew, it amazes me and makes me love Him all the more.  Trust that thought might encourage you as well.

Well, although facebook is fun and is the new fad and the networking is great, it sure seems easier to fill everyone in on the stories of life on xanga.  Later skaters!

The last month and a half has been filled with lots of activity and lots of blessing.  So here's a recap....the middle of July I went to see/hear James McDonald at a church in the Philly area, what a neat time of worship and he spoke on having joy in the hardships of life ~ excellent...he's taller than I thought he would be.  I was involved in a SHAPE training session at my church, which has nothing to do with what we look like (on the outside), but had to do with how God has SHAPEd us for ministry. S-spiritual gifts, H-heart, A-abilities, P-personality, E-experience.  It was very good for me!!

Then I was going to go out to Washington to visit my pal Mandy, but that's going to have to wait for another time, so I ended up having a week off and no where to go, so I stayed around here and ended up having a great time.  I stained my deck at my house, went to the driving range with friends a couple of time (that's golf for those of you who think I did a NASCAR thing), went hiking for 5 hours on the HOTTEST day of the summer!!, went furniture shopping and bought a chair, met up with people I hadn't seen in a while, it was a full 4 days and very refreshing.

The next Friday my niece got married,  here's my facebook album, hopefully the link will copy & paste ok, if you want to take a look,   http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=11952&l=8b82b&id=511500694    It was an outside wedding complete with a hail storm just after we had finished some decorating, but nothing got wet that couldn't get wet and everything was beautiful for that evening...especially the bride!!!  I just kept praising the Lord for how everything went ~ it was definitely an exceedingly abundant day!!!  My nephew, niece and the baby stayed at my house for the weekend and that just added to the joy of the whole event.

The next weekend Ginny and Betsy came down from NY and stayed with me and that was a grand time too.  Oh, and in there too, I have started teaching english to a refuge from Burma (his refuge camp was across the boarder in Thailand), there are 5 guys and I work with the one that doesn't know any english....we're just getting started, so I think it's going to be slow going.  3 of the fellows are saved, but I don't think this one is, so I'm praying for him know what true freedom is, beyond the freedom he now has in America.

LBC has started up, activities at church start up within the next week, my fantasy football team has been selected,  I've gotten the new Casting Crowns CD - it's a must have!!!  So, I'm sure there will be more to come in the not to distant future.....I sure enjoy reading everyone's updates when they come around.  See ya.......

Once again, much has happened over the last month!  Here are a few pictures of my journey....

These were all taken within a mile from my house....I'm a farm girl at heart, it's in my blood.
We had a baby shower for my nephew and niece from VA and a bridal shower for my niece who lived with me some while she was finishing her schooling at Lancaster General Hospital, so here are some pics of that:

One of the things we did was take newborn diapers and wrote messages on them, so when the new mom AND dad change Micah's diapers they'll be reminded of us and enjoy changing smelly diapers
Here are fireworks from Long's Park in Lancaster......

And here's my favorite......

Another cool thing was going to Sight and Sound and seeing "In The Beginning".  Wow, what a show!!  I'll just share one of the many things that impacted me.  I loved seeing a visual of Adam's relationship with God before the fall, it was just filled with love and joy and adoration/praise to God for Who He is!  And then the fall and how that changed our heart, but it didn't change God's.  And although there is the struggle of our sinful nature's here on earth God's love gives us every opportunity to have love, joy and adoration/praise in abundance, with more to come when we see Him face to face.  So once again, it leaves me saying....life is good, but God is better!!

It's definately time to update....

I've got to start updating more frequently because there is too much going on to try and squeeze it all into every 3 or 4 weeks.  Two weeks ago I had a great opportunity and a fun time being reunited with some BI grads from '98 (give or take a year) that are here in the Lancaster area - most of which I had not seen since they graduated.  What a BLESSING to see them and hear what God has been doing in their lives over the last almost 10 years.  Here are a couple of pictures...

So who do you recognize??  There's Beth Gallant, Vince & Joanna (Cameron) Sensenig, Greg & Kara (Blackledge) Daley, Shawn & Jenn (Shockey) DeGroft, John & Valerie (Hartman) Lytle, Matt Spiker and his wife and me, oh, and all the kids!  3 of those couples met at the BI - how cool is that.  Once again - God blessed my heart!!

Other stuff...my niece graduated from nursing school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

I got to see my great niece again:

We had a hail storm...I think it's the first one I've been in since I was a little kid...that was a long time ago!

I got a new grill yumm!  My mom had a good belly laugh when I realized I had a 4 foot thistle in my backyard that I thought was a plant.  Had dinner and mini-golf with Laurie Parke.  Went to a Dream Dinners party-what fun.  Helped put out 41 scoops of mulch (for those of you who've done mulching, that's a lot of mulch!!).  Went to my nephew's church softball game.  Took a mid-term I haven't taken a test like that in years!!  Tonight I'm going to make my 12 Dream Dinner meals, tomorrow it's dinner and mini-golf with Wheaty (bring your A-game Wheaty!).  Friday night is dinner with Ginny Newton who is visiting family in Baltimore.  Life is good, but God is better!!

Well, that's the scoop with me.  Thanks for everyone's updates, I sure enjoy reading them!
